Have you noticed how much technology has changed in the last centuries? The same has happened with the English language. The words we use nowadays have roots going back centuries. Some words were created by English speaking people; some were adopted from other languages. Lots of words have Anglo-Saxon, Greek, Roman, or Latin origins. Science (especially the medical field) still uses the original ancient words.
The words we use change with our environment. Technological development and new lifestyles force the language to change and adopt or create words that describe our changing environment.
Etymology is the science that deals with the origin of our words. We will explore the most important word roots and origins.
