Before the Industrial Revolution, most
Europeans lived in rural villages and made their living from the land. The
development of machinery and the factory system caused manufacturing to sweep
across Europe, spreading to the United States and the rest of the world. The
Industrial Revolution brought with it great social, economic, and cultural
change.
In this lesson, we will look at the origins of the Industrial Revolution and the
improvements and problems that grew out of it.
