Statistics involves the gathering and analysis of numerical data. Statistics are used to predict probability, which is the chance, or the odds, of an event happening. 

Objectives

By completing this lesson students should be able to:

1. compute simple probabilities,
    
2. compute basic statistics,
    
3. understand statistical tables, charts, and graphs,
    
4. understand measures of variability and measures of central tendency, and
    
5. use statistics to test a hypothesis.
