eTAP provides curriculum for the core subjects of Mathematics, English, History and Science for grades 1 through 12.

This curriculum is divided into Lessons, with topics shown in the
Table of Contents (TOC). These lessons are grouped by subject and grade level. Each lesson contains:
  • Lesson Plan/Preview
  • Instructional Content and/or Links
  • Practice Exercises
  • Problems and Tests
Homeschool parents can use eTAP as their complete instructional program or as a supplement to other programs that they are using.  Some homeschool parents provide supervision of their children's education with the help of resources from eTAP. Other homeschool parents enroll in local charter or public schools with independent study programs. Some of these schools will pay for eTAP membership fees.

Whichever system you chose, most states allow students to take the GED test and receive a General Education Diploma as early as age 16.

Most states have two-year community colleges which allow enrollment with a GED in place of a High School diploma. Students can then transfer from the community college to a four-year university. As an alternative, students can take the SAT exam for direct admittance to most four-year college or universities.

We recommend that a record is kept of completed work sheets, practice exercises, etc. in a three-ring binder. This record can be used to satisfy local school agencies requirements. If you decide to enroll your child in school at a later time, these records will also help the school determine the right grade placement for your child.

Here are examples of how eTAP can be used for different grade levels:

Elementary Grades K-3 & 4-6 (ages 5-12)

For the elementary grades, eTAP provides worksheets that you can print for your children.

Mathematics

Mathematics has 12 lessons for Grades K-3. Each term (Fall: September-January or Spring: February-June) lasts about 18 weeks. Therefore, each lesson should be used for about two weeks before going on to the next lesson.

Also, each lesson has a recommended grade-level range. For example, Lesson 1 can be used for grades K through 2. This means that your child can start learning the material at the kindergarten level and continue with larger numbers through the 1st and 2nd grade levels.

State Standards often recommend that each year, students review the previous year's work before proceeding on to the next level. This arrangement also allows each student to learn at their own pace. Some students will advance more quickly than others.

When you go to a lesson, you will find worksheets that can be printed out so your children can learn how to write their numbers. You can print out more than one copy of each worksheet if your child needs more practice.

Also, you will often find short video tutorials and links to interactive web sites where your child can learn by playing educational games specifically related to the topic being studied. This gives your child a number of different learning experiences to fit their individual learning style, whether it is kinetic, auditory, or visual.

It is recommended that your child spend about four hours a day on the four core subjects. This will vary from day to day as homeschoolers usually have other learning activities outside the home such as visits to the library, museums, parks, art, music lessons, and sports.

English (Language Arts)

English has eight lessons for grades K-3 and eight lessons for grades 4-6.

The directions for English are much the same as for Mathematics. Each lesson can be used for about four weeks before moving on to the next lesson.

For the early grades, worksheets are provided to help your child learn how to write the alphabet and simple words.

Links are provided on all lessons to interactive learning games and other helpful sources of information.

History (Social Studies)

The following topics are included for grades K-3: Laws, World Geography, American and World Leaders, American Indians, Early Explorers and Economy. Links are provided for instruction and worksheets for student activities.

Grade 4 covers California History. There are six lessons, so you can spend about four weeks on each lesson.

Grade 5 covers United States History with nine lessons, allowing four weeks per lesson.

Grade 6 provides seven lessons on the rise of ancient peoples and cultures. About four weeks may be spent on each lesson.

Science

Grades K-3 covers the following subjects: Physical Science, Life Science, Earth Science and Investigation and Experimentation. 18 lessons are provided. You can spend about three weeks on each lesson. Each year, however, you should advance to a higher level in each subject.

Grades 4 and 5 have about eight lessons for each year. You may spend about four weeks for each lesson.
