Independent and Dependent Events

Independent Events 

In flipping a coin twice, we can have the following outcomes:

You notice that, for example, observing heads in the first flip has no effect on the result of the second flip, or observing a tails in the second flip could not be affected by the outcomes of the first flip.

If the outcomes of the first flip being assigned to first event and the outcomes of the second flip being assigned to the second event, then these events are called independent events.
