High School Exit Exam preparation course from eTAP adopted by 24 High Schools in Los Angeles Unified School District
Website www.CAHSEEprep.org being used to increase pass rate for high school students in Los Angeles.

LAGUNA BEACH, Calif., Feb 2007 – eTAP, the electronic Teaching Assistance Program, today announced that high schools are reporting higher pass rates since their students have been using the website www.CAHSEEprep.org from eTAP. eTAP program is student center and permits each student to receive individualized instruction.

The students have found eTAP program to better meet their own learning styles, eTAP allows the student a choice of instruction including traditional text plus links to video with audio and other information and interactive websites. This variety of learning resources helps the increasing number of visual learners who are failing and dropping of traditional text based instruction.

Another reason student and teachers like eTAP is because it is delivered by the internet. The use of computers and internet motivate students.

During its 3 year online development period, the web site has experienced approximately 30,000 visits per month from interested parents and educators, according to Blaise J. Subbiondo, president of eTAP, Inc., a California non-profit public benefit corporation.

“We currently provide more than 40,000 pages of quality content in our program, with links to another 40,000 pages on other Internet sites. New content is continually being added so that all core subjects will be available in the next year,” he said, adding that all content complies with educational state standards.

“Our easy-to-understand, easy-to-navigate instructional program includes a complete set of lesson plans, instructions, practice exercises, problems and test questions from standardized exams,” he said. “We also provide links to a variety of interesting graphics and interactive activities. All subjects are organized by grade level and topic, making it fast and easy for parents to find the elements they need to help their children learn."

eTAP Launches Online Home Teaching Aide

Subbiondo said eTAP is a resourceful tool to parents, students, teachers and schools.

“Parents benefit by the ability to more easily track their students’ progress and in helping them study, and by the low-cost monthly fee,” he said. “Some parents can use eTAP to enhance their own educational goals or prepare for new careers.

“Our program allows students to work at their own pace, use practice exercises to gain understanding and generally reduce stress in their learning environment,” he added.

Other benefits to parents include easy access to instruction and teaching aides such as practice exercises, handouts and lesson plans.

“Parents will notice improvements in their children's test scores,” he said.

Early users of the program are encouraged by the eTAP concept:

“The instructional design strategy of eTAP’s lessons demonstrates attention to instruction, enrichment, practice and assessment. And the program is an effective model of the use of technology,” said Rhea Stewart, a veteran curriculum developer and parent.

“As a mother, I appreciate the no-nonsense instructions. My son has been having a problem with decimals. Tonight he got it!” said a parent in Darling, S.C.

A parent of a 6th grade child with learning disabilities in Charlotte, N.C. described eTAP as “fantastic!” She added that “everything he needs to know is right at our fingertips. The material is thorough, easy to follow, interesting and straightforward. I think we’ll actually have fun with math.”

“I found the site to be very user-friendly and easier to navigate than most mainstream educational sites,” said a California education consultant. “There are no banners, popups or cluttering images and the registration process was simple and quick to complete.”
