Dalton's Law

In 1801, John Dalton figured out that when you have a mixture of gases, each gas in the mixture creates its own pressure .

Each gas behaves as though the other gases were not present. Each gas pressure is called a partial pressure. Add all the partial pressures in a mixture together and you get a total pressure .

This is Dalton's law of partial pressures.
