Catalysts
A
catalyst is a substance that takes part in a reaction by either starting a reaction, or by increasing or decreasing its reaction rate. However, you will always end up with the same amount (usually very little) of catalyst with which you began.
Catalysts are used extensively in industry; over 80% of industrial processes are catalyzed.
Catalysts called enzymes take part in important processes that occur in our bodies. Without catalysts we could not live!
