You will almost certainly need to look for a job at various times in your life. Newspapers and online job listings show many job openings in a variety of fields. However, hundreds or even thousands of people may apply for a single job. How can you give yourself an edge above the competition?

Most companies require you to fill out a job application or send a résumé. Some companies ask for both. While it may seem unnecessary to have to fill out an application and attach a résumé containing much of the same information, it actually helps the company to sort the applicants.
