Finding Answers to Questions

Scientists in every field seek information and conclusions that are valid for general circumstances. They pursue two fundamental trends in their endeavors: answering proposed questions with reliable evidences and proofs, and generalizing a unique observation to develop a rule or theory based on a set of data and experiences.

In all these efforts, scientists follow a unique approach called the scientific method. This method leads them to organize their time, skills, and capacities in a way that they can reach accurate conclusions and solutions in a reasonable interval of time.

There is a series of steps involved in a scientific method each requires particular skills and techniques. In general, these steps are as follows:

  • Observation
  • Developing Hypotheses
  • Testing Hypotheses
  • Conclusion
