Over two thousand years ago, Aristotle, the Greek philosopher, stated that males and females have different number of teeth. He didn't bother to check his statement. He didn't look into the mouths of males and females and count their teeth. He just argued that this is the way it should be. Would you believe Aristotle's statement?

You can flip through TV channels, read books or magazines, or browse Internet sites and find a lot of statements that may or may not be true. If you really want to know the truth, some proof is required. This is what the scientific method is all about.

In this lesson you will practice proving or disproving statements using the scientific method.
